Earlier this week we got our first look at the new Pennywise for the upcoming IT movie. The character that Tim Curry made iconic is now being realised by Bill Skarsgård for the big screen.
By Jay Hunter – Speaking to Entertainment Weekly Skarsgård said “it’s such an extreme character, inhumane. It’s beyond even a sociopath, because he’s not even human, he’s not even a clown. I’m playing just one of the being IT creates.”
He went on to say he will attempt a fresh take on the character, instead of recreating what Tim Curry done.
In the movie, Pennywise will be closer to the age of the children. Skarsgård said he will be a more childlike version of the clown, showing a twisted reflection of the children themselves.
The movies timeline will also be different to what we have previously seen, with the movie taking place in the 1980’s instead of the 1950’s.
The movie will focus on the first half of the IT legacy, with a sequel only tackling the characters later in life if the first movie is successful.
IT is scheduled for a 2017 release.
