By Jay Hunter – Winter has come to San Diego Comic-Con, the creators of Game of Thrones have been working hard on the upcoming seventh season and they brought us some footage to testify that.

Season 7 will largely be filmed in Northern Ireland, with a number of other cities in Spain (Sevilla, Caceres, Almodovar del Rio, Santiponce, Zumaia and Bermeo) as well as Iceland. So far Mark Mylod, Jeremy Podeswa, Matt Shakman and Alan Taylor have all been confirmed to direct at least one episode each.

Season 7 will arrive in Summer 2017 instead of it’s usual Spring release. The reason behind this is not only because each season has been getting grander and grander, lengthening the period of post-production, but also now that ‘Winter is here’ the shooting locations need to reflect that.
