By Beth McConnell – Breck Eisner (The Crazies) is currently in talks to direct the thirteenth, Friday the 13th movie for Platinum Dunes and Paramount.
The script is set to be penned by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) after he completed his screenplay last month, which is being described as an “origin-ish” story.
So far we know Pamela Voorhees is set to make an appearance and possibly Jason’s father (Elias Voorhees).
Platinum Dunes producer was quoted speaking to Yahoo to say “We’re going to go back and we’re going to meet that family. You’re going to meet Pamela, Elias and Jason. And you’re going to see how it all happened”
The Crazies was a solid, yet forgettable remake. However Prisoners was a highly underrated thriller, so we’re holding out hope for a solid entry into Friday the 13th series with this new movie. Meeting Jason’s father will dilute the mystery surrounding the hockey masked killer though and it’s a decision that will surely divide fans. What do you think about the decision?
Friday the 13th has set an extremely optimistic release date for January (Friday) 13th, 2017.
