Stewart has been at the forefront of the X-Men franchise for sixteen years
By Jay Hunter – It’s been confirmed that Wolverine 3 will signal the end for Hugh Jackman in the iconic role, however it seems that he may not be the only mutant leaving the series. Sir Patrick Stewart (another X-Men original along with Jackman) plays Professor Charles Xavier and in a recent interview with ITV he hinted it may be the end of the road for him, stating:
“I would imagine this is probably the end of this franchise for me. But the thing about science fiction and fantasy is that you can never, ever say it’s the end, it’s over”.
The X-Men movies have become rather convoluted of late, with Xavier also being played by the brilliant James McAvoy. If Wolverine 3 is indeed Stewarts outing it will be unfortunate to see the series lose such a talented thespian. Stewart finished by saying:
“But watch out! In March, I’m going to be back on the screen again. A very different Charles Xavier, that’s all I’m allowed to say. Nothing like the Charles Xavier you’ve seen in the past”.
Wolverine 3 will be released in cinemas March 3rd, 2017.
