James Wan is set to produce the movie Fans still have hope of hearing the iconic soundtrack again

By Beth McConnell James Wan (The Conjuring 2) has been called in to produce the new addition to the franchise, this maybe the breakthrough in video-game movies and MK fans have been waiting for.

Despite the success of Paul W. S Anderson (Resident Evil)’s 1995’s installment, in becoming the 4th highest grossing video game movie film of all time, the film was universally disliked by fans and panned by critics.

Prepare to be Annihilated...  Prepare to be Annihilated…

Annabelle director, John R. Leonetti’s Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1998) was also ill-received.

Wan is currently directing DC’s Extended Universe’s, Aquaman (2017). The celebrated director has made it clear that he does not intend to rush the MK project, expressing his enthusiasm and vision for his adaptation. He states:

“The key here is to try and do it right. I don’t want to rush into it. So right now, we’re just trying to take our time to make sure it’s heading in the right direction. I think that’s more important than trying to rush through it and pump up something that no one likes.”

The horror auteur adds: “I think they’re such colorful characters. It’s such an amazing take on, basically, ‘Enter the Dragon.’ It’s that fantasy version, the video game version, of ‘Enter the Dragon.’ This really mythical, bigger world that lives on another dimension on top of ours. I think that’s really fun to play with and so we’ll see.”

With a jam-packed to-do-list, we have to wait a while before Wan jumps on board.
