By Jay Hunter – Naturally, horror movie remakes are often met with distain from fan communities and Hollywood in turn is ridiculed for it’s like of original ideas. This is no more true than in the case of the IT remake which has endured a bumpy ride in order to make it to the big screen. Director changes and budget problems have delayed the movie numerous times but now with Andy Muschietti at the helm, we’re finally close to seeing Pennywise on the big screen.
Earlier this week director recently released some teaser images from the movie via his Instagram, including a ‘missing’ poster for Richie Tozier (Finn Wolfhard).
Now, thanks to Entertainment Weekly we can see Bill Skarsgård in his full clown costume, playing the shape-shifting creature known as, Pennywise.
The movie is said to be cashing in on the love of 1980’s nostalgia (a trend attributed to the success of Stranger Things), as confirmed by the movies producer, Dan Lin stating; “I think a great analogy is actually Stranger Things, and we’re seeing it on Netflix right now,” Lin said. “It’s very much an homage to ‘80s movies, whether it’s classic Stephen King or even [Steven] Spielberg. Think about Stand by Me as far as the bonding amongst the kids. But there is a really scary element in Pennywise.” Whilst talking to Collider
As always with a remake, this is bound to divide fans right down the middle. What do you think of the new outfit? Let us know in your comments below!
IT is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2017.
