By Jay Hunter Beloved actress Carrie Fisher passed away this week at the age of 60 after suffering a massive heart attack just days prior on a flight from London to Los Angeles. The beloved script doctor and starred in The Blues Brothers and When Harry Met Sally, but will be best remembered as Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars series.

Fisher, who was both a mother and daughter had recently finished filming for the upcoming Star Wars Episode VIII movie. Her cast and friends including Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) naturally shared their touching tributes via the internet.

“It’s never easy to lose such a vital, irreplaceable member of the family, but this is downright heartbreaking. Carrie was one-of-a-kind who belonged to us all- whether she liked it or not. She was OUR Princess, damn it, & the actress who played her blurred into one gorgeous, fiercely independent & ferociously funny, take-charge woman who took our collective breath away. Determined & tough, but with a vulnerability that made you root for her & want her to succeed & be happy. She played such a crucial role in my professional & personal life, & both would have been far emptier without her. I am grateful for the laughter, the wisdom, the kindness & even the bratty, self-indulgent crap my beloved space-twin gave me through the years. Thanks Carrie. I love you” – Mark Hamill

“Carrie was one-of-a-kind…brilliant, original.  Funny and emotionally fearless.  She lived her life, bravely…My thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends. We will all miss her.” – Harrison Ford

“Carrie and I have been friends most of our adult lives.  She was extremely smart; a talented actress, writer and comedienne with a very colorful personality that everyone loved.” – George Lucas

“I have always stood in awe of Carrie.  Her observations always made me laugh and gasp at the same time.  She didn’t need The Force.  She was a force of nature, of loyalty and of friendship.  I will miss her very much.” – Steven Spielberg

Perhaps Yoda said it best “Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealously. The shadow of greed, that is.”

Rest in peace, Princess. May the force be with you
